Rent a motor-cruiser & bike: Leeuwarden & The Eleven Cities Tour
8 days I Motor-cruiser & Bike I Self-guided tour
Enjoy the Eleven Cities Tour Northern Route from Sneek where you collect your motor-cruiser home and enjoy some additional time in Leeuwarden to experience Friesland’s vibrant capital city which is proud to be crowned ‘European Capital of Culture 2018’ alongside Valletta. Your motor-cruiser can be moored in Leeuwarden’s quiet and leafy Princentuin which is situated very close to the city centre and ideal for walking or cycling around the city.
Cultural centre, Leeuwarden, has a long history going back to Roman times when it was situated along the ‘Middelzee’ and had close trading links with the Hanseatic cities of Germany and Scandinavia. Today, it’s a lively university town with a pleasant and inviting Old Town and small shops and historic buildings dominating the skyline.
Please see ‘The Eleven Cities Tour - Northern Route’. The ‘Leeuwarden & The Eleven Cities Tour’ has been shortened in terms of boating distances to include more time to visit 2018's European Capital of Culture. (Day three of the regular Northern route is omitted.)
Nice & Easy: Short, gentle cycle rides, touring in flat terrain along mostly paved minor roads and paved cycle paths without any gradients of note. Some small and short ascents only in areas where there are drainage dykes and bridges. The cycle tour route is nice and flexible: with a very good map to hand and the excellent cycle track network signposting, you'll have no trouble extending or shortening your bike ride if you like.
